US Model 1902 Saber. With black grip, which may come in a variety of materials, is in this case black enameled wood. The black enamel has a crack halfway that goes all the way around the grip & a big chip of enamel missing at the base where the guard meets handle. Squirrel & C. E. in oval on panel near hilt indicates Carl Eichorn manufacturer name .
The etching on the sword etched with floral sprays, stands of military trophies, and an eagle at midpoint, clutching a ribbon with the words ''E PLURIBUS UNUM''. The other side is the similar floral/ military patterns etched along the side of the blade. The nickel-steel scabbard is in fair condition with several dings, just some rust speckling, & some 1/4'' rust spots. Blade is in rough condition with rust & pitting & serious scratches & attempts at filing to sharpen. The etching is sharp and clear in some places and difficult to see in others. Some light rust throughout the handgaurd. - Value: 100 to 400
