Winchester Model 87 (1885) Third Variation Winder Musket Low Wall, CAL: 22 SHORT, MFG: 1919, SN: 131129, Single Shot Lever Action Rifle, 28'' barrel. The model 87 is the third variation of the 1885 Winder Musket low-wall. Most examples are martial marked, this one is not. The straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid, with the buttstock displaying numerous scrapes, contusions, nicks & dings. The forearm has been lightly sanded & refinished & displays only a few nicks & dings. The metal has been buffed & reblued, with the barrel having 50% coverage, with splotchy loss & toning brown on the back half of the barrel. The reblued receiver rates 90%, with visible buff marks & tiny blemishes. Bore is good, with areas of spotting. The receiver carries a Lyman no. 53 receiver peep sight & blade front sight. Buttstock carries a smooth metal buttplate. Sling swivels. The rifle has a couple of lesser screw replacements. Action is tight. A fairly rare, good condition gun. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 400 to 800
