Marlin Firearms Co. Ballard Single Shot, .22 Cal., 32-40 Cal., MFG. 1890, SN: 34433, Lever Falling Block Rifle, 28'' Octagon barrel. This rifle has had the barrel sleeved to .22 caliber & was likely a 32-20 or 32-40 previously. The factory wood stocks are very good & solid, having been lightly sanded & refinished. The stocks display very few scuffs or contusions, along with a couple of 1'' glued cracks at the toe & a couple of tight 1'' hairline cracks at the wrist. The barrel & buttplate are serial number stamped to match the receiver. The barrel has been scrubbed to a matte gray in an attempt to clean rust pitting. Barrel shows several nicks & abrasions, some likely from removing the barrel during lining. The case-hardened receiver, lever & hammer appear to have been scrubbed, displaying a muted gray tone with some deep pitting. The stock carries a crescent buttplate. The rifle is mounted with updated sights, an adjustable rear & front tall blade sight. Bore is excellent, with strong rifling. The ejector has a weld repair & appears to function. With the newly lined barrel, this would likely be an excellent rifle to purchase as an antique shooter. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 200 to 400
