J Stevens & Co. Model Tip-up, .22 Cal., SN: 25279, MFG: Antique, Tip-up Break Open Single Shot Rifle, 24'' Octagon barrel, Marked on left side flat: ''J STEVENS & CO CHICOPEE FALLS .MASS PAT. SEPT 6, 1884 ''. The buttstock is very good with only light scratches & dings to the finish. Barrel retains about 65% of blue, is toning to a brown patina, with a majority of the loss along belly of barrel in front of the receiver. Barrel is serial numbered & matches SN on the lower tang. The receiver, trigger guard & buttplate are nickel plated & carry 50% of the original nickel, with most loss showing on the right side of receiver. Bore is fair, rough but with visible rifling. Fixed rear & small blade front sight. Break, trigger & hammer all appear to function correctly. Crescent metal buttplate. A very nice original example. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
