US Springfield Model 1873, CAL: 45-70. MFG: 1873-84 SN: 378061, 32 1/2'' barrel, U.S. made trapdoor breech loading action. Straight grip stock has light scratches/dings with handling wear in high use areas. Very faint cartouche above trigger on left side. Military style metal butt plate with no bluing, dark brown patina & has US stamping at top. Barrel turning brown/grey patina overall, with some heavier rust staining present and some rubbing to clean rust down to white. Receiver is dark brown rust patina throughout, no case hardening visible on breechblock underside. Breechlock marked with ''U.S. MODEL 1873'' & serial number on the breech block. The lock plate is stamped with eagle & '':U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1873''. Rear sight is elevator adjustable w/graduations from 1 to 5 & ladder adjustable w/ graduations from 6 to 12. very faint. Front sight is small blade on block . Bore is darkening, contains some pitting, retains some shine with visible strong rifling. Steel trigger guard, barrel band, sling swivel & hammer have pitting, rust & some staining. Double swivels on front barrel band & single swivel on front of trigger guard. No cleaning rod/ramrod present. Mechanical function is good. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 800 to 1600
