Danish Remington Rolling Block Model 1867/96, CAL: 11.7 X 51R, MFG: 1867-80's, SN: 53056, Rolling block rifle, 35 1/2'' round barrel. Original two piece straight grip wood stock in good condition w/ some heavy dings/gouges/scratches.. Right side of buttstock has a 5/8'' brass disk w/ ''T R 216'' stamped. Steel nose cap. & 3 barrel bands with crown stamps. The barrel retains about 10% of blue with rust staining & greying patina.
The serial number & Danish crown are stamped on left side of barrel near receiver. The case-hardened receiver & trigger guard/tangs are in fair condition with no visible case colors & appear to have been sanded to remove rust, leaving in the white w/ rust staining present. Receiver is stamped with crown over the royal cypher over the model designation ''M-1867''. Upper tang stamped: '' KJOBENHAVN0 T0IHUUS 187'' Rifle is mounted with 3 1/4'' long leaf rear sight that has a sliding elevator/ladder sight. With the ladder folded down, the rear sight is a large ''V'' notch at the back of the ladder. The right side of the ladder is marked '' 250 & 400'' that have strikes through them for use with the slider as an elevator. When the ladder is raised, there is smaller ''V'' notch on the top edge of the slider. The ladder is marked on the top from ''15 to 21'', the left side of the sight base has ''150 & 250'' that has been struck through & the underside of the ladder is marked from ''3 to 14'' for use with the slider. The front sight is a small , stout V blade dovetailed into a block mounted on the barrel. Bore is very good , beginning to darken still some shine & crisp rifling. Buttplate appears original steel in good condition, silver/grey patina with crown stamp on top near retaining screw. Original sling swivels mounted on the bottom of buttstock & middle barrel band. Retains original cleaning rod in good condition. Action is very tight and appears to function fully. A nice, complete example of a Danish Remington Rolling Block.
