German Mauser Model 98, CAL: 8mm. MFG: 1918-20, SN: 189. German made bolt action, 30'' round barrel. The pistol grip military wood stock contains multiple light scratches/cracks/ dings/oil stains throughout from handling/storage. Buttstock retains military style bolt disassembly washer. Military style metal butt plate w/ rust present overall. Barrel retaining about 35% bluing with some scratching and what appears to be vice jaw marks. Receiver showing 30% bluing w/ some bare metal showing in place. Receiver ring marked with German eagle, proof marks, ''1920 V. CHR. SCHILLING SUHL 1918''. Left side of receiver has serial # stamped & receiver shows Mod. 98. Rear sight is military elevator adjustable w/ graduations from 1 to 20. Front sight is windage adjustable blade. Front sight comes with removable front sight protector and flip up muzzle protector. Bore is dark w/ some light pitting & visible rifling. Mechanical function is good. Matching serial numbers on barrel, receiver & bolt (3 places) magazine floorplate not matching. Missing rear sling swivel. Nice older German mauser with some unusual features.
