Portuguese Mauser Model: 1904, CAL: 6.5, MFG: 1904, SN: J5814, German made bolt action. 24 1/2'' barrel. Two piece dark walnut stocks w/ appears to be original oil finish. Pistol grip stock w/ lots of t scratches/dings throughout both lower & upper handguard. Military style metal butt plate with rust patina overall. Barrel retaining about 10% bluing with some greying patina showing. Receiver retains 30% blue there is some severe pitting on receiver where it meets the upper handgaurd. Bolt is blued with wearing down to the white at contact points Receiver ring has Portuguese crest/crown ,left side of receiver stamped w/ ''P'' in circle then ''ESPINGARDA PORTUGUEZA 6.5 MOD 1904 - DEUSTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFARIKEN BERLIN''. Serial number stamped on right side of receiver. Rear sight is tangent adjustable in elevation with graduating marks from 2 to 20. Front sight is windage adjustable dovetailed blade on large block with stout protective ears on both sides. Bore is clear with distinctive rifling showing. The nose cap has a bayonet lug on the bottom for the attachment of bayonet. Mechanical function is not determinable due to bolt condition. Non-matching serial numbers on receiver & bolt. Bolt is missing parts on back-end making this rifle non-fireable in present condition, have gunsmith repair before attempting to fire this rifle. This particular rifle has a unique flip up muzzle protector attached to muzzle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
