Japanese Military Arisaka Model Type 99, CAL: 7.7mm, MFG: 1939 -45 by Nagoya Arsenal, SN: 6088, Japanese made bolt action rifle. 26'' barrel. Stock is two piece Japanese walnut that is in decent condition for age & handling, entire stock is covered w/ a lot of scratches & dings. One large gouge (shrapnel hit?) at top of pistol grip. Wood to metal fit is very good. Mum is intact on receiver ring. Type 99 is stamped in on receiver ring under the mum stamp location. SN & arsenal stamps on left side of receiver. Barrel & other metal parts all show normal wear, with some rust speckling throughout 40% bluing remaining. Rear sight is graduated out to 1500 meters & original small blade front sight surrounded by squared protective ears. Bore is good, with some darkening w/ visible rifling. Original front sling swivel, rear swivel. Buttstock carries original military buttplate that contains a lot of rust. Action fully functional & very tight. Overall condition is very good with all parts original & complete. Japanese Arisaka are one of the strongest military bolt actions ever made. This one with Mum & low SN!
