Italian Vetterli Model 1870/87/15 Carcano Conversion, CAL: 6.5X52 Carcano, MFG: 1882 SN: WZ2837, Bolt Action Rifle. 34'' round barrel. Marked on barrel just ahead of receiver with: TORRE ANNUNZIATA, proof stamps, SN, then '' 1882'' on the left side, ''P P'' in oval. Straight grain, oil finished dark walnut in fair condition w/numerous scratches & dings from age. Serial Number stamped on buttstock near buttplate, cartouches stamped on left side above trigger guard. Rear sight is notched ''V'' w/ adjustable elevator numbered from 6 to 20 along the top. Front sight is flat blade. The barrel & other metal surfaces retaining 40% of the original blue on the barrel & 40% on receiver both have some rust darkening. Trigger guard, barrel bands & standard military style steel buttplate are in good condition with some light rust speckling throughout H1009 is scratched into buttplate. Barrel has bayonet lug 3.5'' from muzzle. Bore is good condition, dark with sharp, visible rifling. This rifle was converted to the 6.52 Italian service ammunition during WWI, this was done by soldering a 6.5 liner in the bore. A new magazine was installed that allows use of the Mannlicher-Carcano six shot clip. Cleaning rod is present. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 100 to 300
