Swiss Schmidt-Ruben Model 1889CAL: 7.5x55 Swiss, MFG: 1889, SN: 140157, Swiss made straight pull bolt action rifle, 30 3/4'' barrel. Stock is original walnut in good, but well-used condition that the front 21 '' has been replaced & inletted just below rear sight, fairly well matched to rest of stock, distinct line where inletted. Age/oil darkening, with some light scratches & dings throughout . Faint stampings of swiss cross & numbers in top of buttstock near buttplate. Wood to metal fit is very good. Proof marks stamped on top of receiver ring. SN on left side of barrel & receiver ring. Matching SN on bolt, magazine floorplate, barrel, receiver & top of buttplate. Barrel, trigger guard & receiver bluing are 60%.. Mounted with a well made quadrant adjustable rear sight, with graduation marks from 4 to 20 (out to 2000 meters). Front sight is original windage adjustable blade. Bore is in excellent condition, shiny, with sharp visible rifling. Stacking rod & bayonet lug & sling swivels all present in good condition. Well-worn Military style steel buttstock with light rust spots throughout. Action fully functional and is very tight. Overall condition is very good with all parts original & complete. The Swiss straight pull rifles are old-world quality Swiss manufacturing & are extremely accurate out to 1000 + yards. A very good original example. Antique, no FFL Req. - Value: 400 to 600
