Colt, Model 1848? Conversion, CAL: 38 Cal?, MFG: 1848, SN: 1995, Single Action Revolver, 5'' Octagon barrel. 6 Shot. Barrel stamped ''--ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA--'' SN on frame & trigger guard stamped ''1995'', different SN on barrel ''1353'' & loading gate ''4672''. The frame carries the 2 line conversion patent dates ''PAT JULY 25,1871'' & ''PAT JULY 2, 1872''. The wood grips are fair, with contusions, nicks, dings, small corner chips & a hairline fracture from top to bottom strap on right side. The metal has worn to a dark plum/brown patina with, spotting & light pitting throughout. Brass trigger guard & backstrap. Bore is fair, with roughness among strong rifling. Cylinder timing & action function properly. Single front bead. Antique, NO FFL Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
