Description

Smith & Wesson Model 1917 (1937 Brazilian Contract), CAL: 45ACP, MFG: 1920's, SN: 182423, Double Action Revolver, 5 1/2'' barrel. Right side of frame carries the Brazilian 1937 stamped marking. The wood grips are good, but undersized, with numerous contusions, nicks & dings. The reblued metal finish rates 80% overall, with speckling under blue. Cylinder & swing gate carry original finish. Bore is very good, Factory sights. Cylinder timing function correctly. Hammer does not cock when trigger is pulled. The hammer, trigger & cylinder do function well in single action. The technical name for this revolver is the .45 Hand Ejector Model of 1917. It was introduced in 1917 at the request of the United States government & was designed to fire the .45 ACP cartridge using a half moon clip. It will also fire the .45 Auto Rim cartridge. Open hole at bottom strap from missing lanyard ring. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 500
