SCARCE French 18th century flintlock pistol. Manufactured exclusively for the French Navy by the Royal Arsenal at TULLE & marked on the lock plate ''Four A Tulle''. 6'' round barrel, This model continued in production & in service well into the Napoleonic wars. This example bears an extrodinary hand carved dog head on butt of grip & scroll work. There is a crack repair on the right side of wrist, with a brass pin. The barrel is gun metal gray, with brown spotty patina & speckled pitting. Brass features have a nice antique patina. Steel ramrod. Flint hammer & trigger work properly.
