Genuine World War II German Police Officer's Degen (Epee) Dress Sword, made by Paul Weyersberg of Solingen. It is still in very good used condition, as having been worn many times, but not abused. The nickel plating throughout the fittings & the ''D'' guard is still bright & in great condition. The pommel cap has excellent serrations & no sign of improper removal. The ''D'' guard is in wonderful condition, ending in the usual teardrop quillon. The ferrule is crisp & decorated with six standing oak leaves separated by acorns. The ebony grip is in excellent condition, tightly wrapped with nickel wire & with a fine cover plate on the reverse. The inset Police Civic eagle insignia is also in fine condition & appears to be of aluminum (Does not take a magnet). The scabbard is in very good condition. It has original paint, which shows some age or light wear. The lower scabbard mount has a decorative pattern of lines & retains almost all the nickel plate. The dome headed retaining screws are excellent. The 31 3/4'' blade is in solid gem condition, with the standard matte finish. It has a nice double fuller, which shows some age, but very little staining or wear. It has original ''Porteppe''. Paul Weyersberg produced blades in Solingen, the legendary ''City of Blades'' in western Germany. The reverse ricasso is marked PAUL WEYERSBERG & Co. / SOLINGEN in double ovals around the firms trademark ''Sword-&-Wreath'' logo, which was the only marking they used during the NSDAP era. The original leather blade washer is unfortunately missing. These police swords are quite rare & desirable, especially ones this nice. Ready to add to your collection & display! Grade: Excellent + - Value: 600 to 1200
