UNIQUE Frank Wesson, Model: type 2 - two trigger conversion , CAL: 45-70 SHOT, MFG: 1850's, SN: 1941, Break open single shot - shotgun, 24'' round barrel. Straight grip Walnut stock appears original with very good wood to metal fit. May have been lightly sanded & re-finished. Stock carries nicely figured grain w/ some scratches & dings. The first 7 1/2 '' of barrel is octagon & remaining 16 1/2 '' is round, may have been turned down to lighten the weight when made to shotgun, also removing the maker name/address lines. The metal blue/black finish has toned grey with very little finish remaining. Receiver/hammer/trigger& guard are turning brown patina, with smatterings of black & scattered light rust speckling. Bore is very good, with some browning present & shows marks from being drilled out to make shotgun diameter. Rear sight is small steel notched, front sight is bead. Crescent shaped brass buttplate w/ smooth finish has some dings/scratches & darkening from age. Low serial number, unique, rarely encountered conversion, Antique, No FFL. - Value: 500 to 1000
