German Mauser Model G98, CAL: 7.9 X 57. MFG: 1917, SN: 7948. German made bolt action, 23 1/2'' barrel. Original military pistol grip stock has been sporterized & cut down, very little finish remains, covered w/ dings/gouges/scratches & cracks at pistol grip, overall poor condition, serialized to gun. Buttstock retains rusted military washers for bolt disassembly. Military style metal butt plate has been sanded & cleaned retains a lot of pitting. Barrel severely rusted/pitted no bluing remains. Receiver is also severely pitted & has been sanded in places. Receiver ring marked with some proof marks, crown, & ''FURT'' visible remaining of EFURT where rifle was made along w/ date made 1917, serial number stamped in barrel/bolt/stock, nothing legible on left side of receiver. Original rear sight has been removed with Redfield peep sight mounted on the receiver bridge, this also covered in rust. Front sight is replacement Marbles blade sight on metal base, rusted as well. Bore is in poor condition, dark w/pitting & some rifling visible. Bolt appears to function & fires when trigger is pulled. Magazine floorplate has matching serial number & ''with'' & eagle stamp with some letters/#'s cannot make out. A very rough WWI vintage Efurt manufactured German mauser.
