RARE Remington, Model 14R CARBINE, .25 REM Cal., MFG: 1919, SN: 66464, Pump Auction Rifle, 18 1/2'' Round barrel, The original wood stocks are very good & solid. They carry the original finish, darkening a bit more on the forearm from use. There are two tight hairlines at the wrist, 2'' on the right, 1'' on the left, which is almost always the case with these rifles. The stocks have a good overall appearance, with few scratches or contusions. The metal blue finish rates 85% on the barrel, 60% on the receiver, with additional wear on the mag tube & action. There are nick & abrasions to the metal surfaces. Bore is fair, dark & bit rough, but with visible rifling. Rifle is fitted with an adjustable Remington rear sight & small blade front sight. Stock fitted with the original upside-down teardrop metal buttplate found on most carbines. Matching SN's on the belly of the receiver for the front half of rifle & matching SN on the inside of the receiver on the trigger guard of the the lower half the rifle. Action is tight & functions well. These carbines were popular along trap lines or as brush hunting rifles due to their shorter length. Only 125,000 model 14's & its variants of 14R, 14 1/2, & 14 1/2R rifles were produced. The vast majority of these were the standard length Model 14, with the carbines being the rare variation.
