Mauser, Model Petrone Target rifle, CAL: 22 LR, MFG: circa 1940. SN:25454, Bolt Action Rifle, 25 3/4'' Round barrel. This was the premier pre-WWII Mauser small bore target rifle, used by top German military & civilian shooters. The receiver marked with a small ''Mauser Banner'' logo, with ''MAUSER-WERKE A.G.-OBERNDORF A.N.'' & ''PATRONE-22 LONG RIFLE'' stamped on the left side. The barrel has the prewar Crown/B, U & G'' factory proofs. The original Mauser factory walnut stock is very good, with a checkered pistol-grip, finger groove forend, & a large circular Mauser banner cartouche on the right side of buttstock. The stock carries the original thinning finish, with a number of small contusions & scratches. Rifle has an all blued metal finish, with 85% on barrel & 60% on receiver toning to a brown patina as it thins. The bolt body remaining in the white from the factory. It has a fully adjustable military style, target rear sight calibrated, ''30-200'' feet, adjustable for windage & elevation with a fixed, inverted ''v'' style front sight. Stock carries a black plastic Mauser Banner marked checkered buttplate. All matching SN's on the barrel, receiver, trigger guard base, underside of the bolt & bolt handle. Bore is vey good & bright, but there is an internal halo flaw about 4'' from muzzle. Single sling swivel, with open hole in the forend from missing swivel.
