FABULOUS & CASED, Merkel, Model 140 Safari, CAL: 470 N.E. (Nitro Express), MFG: N/A, SN: A470168, Break Action SxS Rifle, 23 5/8'' (60cm) barrels. Merkel guns are truly custom, hand-made & master-engraved hunting rifles, all made to customers' specific orders. A safari hunting rifle must be robust, accurate & reliable. The Merkel 140 Safari Double Rifle easily surpasses these requirements. It offers a combination of aesthetics & functionality based on over a century of gun-making experience. In terms of performance, the 140 Safari Double Rifle provides exceptional accuracy & an instant follow-up shot. This example has a modified Anson & Deeley system / Greener locking mechanism, with double underlug locking. The half-luxus stock is composed of premium Grade-4 Turkish walnut, that displays an attractive design, with perfect balance. As a testament to Markel's devotion to the gun-making art, all of the 140 Safari Double Rifle engravings are done entirely by hand. The entirety of the receiver is exquisitely engraved in a European like ornamental scroll, with vignettes on either side; a lion on the left in a jungle setting & a water buffalo in jungle setting on the right. The break lever, trigger guard & barrel ends are also tastefully engraved in the same style engraving. The immaculate checkered, cheeked Grade-4 Turkish walnut is excellent, with few minor handling marks. The metal blue finish on the barrels rates 99%+ & the polished stainless steel receiver is excellent, with virtually zero blemishes. Bores are excellent, basically mint. The solid, matted rib holds a ramp/blade front sight & a folding leaf double rear sight. Buttstock carries a solid brown recoil pad. Double triggers. This beautiful rifle comes finely cased in a beautiful custom Emmebi (Italian) leather case, with high polished brass hardware, red interior, leather accents, & leather ''MERKEL'' patch on the lid. Included in the case is the gun, a wood/brass cleaning rod, silver oil container, (2) 470 N.E snap caps, cleaning cloth, key to the case & a braided leather sling. The case itself is a work of art. A.) If you signed up and asked us to bill your credit card & ship all items ASAP then that is what we will do. No further notice will be sent.
