J. Stevens, Model 620 (Martially Stamped), CAL: 12 GA, MFG: 1927-39, SN:16333, Pump Action Shotgun, 2 3/4'', 20'' barrel, 24'' with Lyman Cutts compensator. Marked with a standard three line Stevens address on the left side of the barrel. The left side of the breech & lower left front of the receiver are marked with the military ''P/flaming ordnance bomb'', with ''MODEL 620'' & ''U.S.'' on the left of the receiver. This shotgun features the original checkered slide forearm & a later replacement smooth pistol grip stock. The stock has a large 3''x2'' toe repair, which was nicely done. Both stock & forearm were sanded & a non-professional refinish was added. The stocks have numerous small scratches & contusions. The metal carries an older reblue, which is retained at 80% on barrel, 60% on receiver & 20% on mag tube, with areas of wear toning brown. Metal surfaces have numerous abrasions, pitting & buff lines under the reblue. Bore is good. The stock carries a poorly fit, vintage, ventilated recoil pad. Compensator was added & it carries a single silver front bead. Although this shotgun is much altered, martially marked shotguns can bring high dollars & are still collectible. Could also be a good home defense shotgun. FFL or C&R Req - Value: 400 to 800
