Danish Krag Model 1889, CAL: 8 X54mmR, MFG: 1900 SN: 52934, Bolt action rifle, 33'' Round barrel. These rifles were adopted in 1889 by the Danish Army to replace the Model 1867 Rolling Block rifle & remained in the Danish military service until WW2. The original two piece straight grip wood stock in very good condition, w/ numerous dings, gouges & scratches from over 100 years of use, handling & storage. Right side of buttstock has a 5/8'' brass disk w/ ''10 R 5891'' stamping. 2 unmarked barrel bands. The forearm is a bit loss & can slide forward. The barrel & metal components have worn to a brown/grey patina, with some remains of original blue in protected areas. The SN & Danish crown are stamped on left side of barrel near receiver. Mixed SN bolt to receiver. Receiver is stamped w/ model designation & date of manufacture ''GEVRFABRIKEN KJBENHAVN 1900'' M89 ''. Rifle is mounted with 3 1/4'' sliding ladder sights, with a large ''V'' notch at the back of the ladder. When the ladder is raised, there is smaller ''V'' notch on the top edge of the slider & ladder is marked on the top from ''4 to 20''. The front sight is a stout inverted V blade dovetailed into a block on the barrel bayonet lug band. Bore is very good, with defined rifling. The steel buttplate appears original, being a bit oversided at the toe. Original sling swivels mounted on the bottom of buttstock, mid & end barrel bands. Matching SN's on barrel, receiver & bayonet lug. Uses a fixed side mounted 5 round magazine. Action is very tight & appears to function fully. This is a scarce Danish infantry rifle that appears in its original configuration. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
