French Fusil-Gras, Chatellerault Model: Mle1874 M80 artillery carbine. CAL: 11X59 mmR, MFG: 1876, SN: 9570, Bolt Action single shot Rifle, 20'' round barrel. The non-checkered straight wrist stock is very good, having been lightly sanded & cleaned, with added finish. The right side of stock carries a worn circle catouche. There is a 1''x1/2'' inlay of wood to the left of the lower tang, along with minor dings & scratches throughout. Matching SN stamped on buttstock. The right side stock has a hard to read Cartouche. Barrel & receiver bluing rates 60%. Rifle is fitted with an adjustable ladder rear sight, w/ increments from 4 to 11. The front sight is small fixed blade on metal block. Left side of receiver is marked ''MANUFACTURE D ARMES Chatelleraultz'', ''MLE 1874'', '' M80''. Left side of barrel is marked ''EM'', ''a'' in circle, ''P'' in circle, ''A 9570''. Right side of barrel marked ''C 1876'' & proof stampings, ''MA''. Bore is very good, with well defined rifling, but rust spotting. Original sling swivels on buttstock & barrel band. Original cleaning rod. Bolt carries different SN. Brass buttplate. Rifle presents well. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
