Martini Enfield, MK1 Carbine, CAL: 303, MFG: 1884, SN: 2141, Falling block single shot rifle.. 21'' round barrel. The Martini action, was one of the strongest ever developed. It was adopted by the British Empire in 1871 & saw military service in England & thoughout the Empire in various forms for almost seventy years. On this example there are proof marks on left side of barrel & SN on the right side. Marked on the right action with original maker information: (crown) ''V.R.ENFEILD, 1884, III I'' Left side is marked with a ottoman empire marking, ''CITADEL 1907''. The straight grain, oil finished walnut stocks are good & solid, but were previously sanded & refinished long ago. It then saw heavy use again, with numerous scratches & dings. The buttstock has 2'' cracks on both sides of stock above the toe & a 3 1/2'' missing sliver from the forend by the receiver. Right side of stock has a brass stock disc, with stampings. Barrel & receiver have an even brown patina. Rear sight is an adjustable V notched ladder, with markings on the base from 200 to 500 & markings on the ladder from 6 to 17. Front sight is a small inverted V, with 2 protective wings. This model carries sling swivels on the trigger guard & on front barrel band, the carry a vintage black leather sling. Smooth metal buttplate, with brown patina. Bore is good, with rust pitting near muzzle, but has defined rifling. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
