Martini- Enfield Carbine,No markings showing manufacture or model. CAL: 303, MFG: 1878-1903, SN: N/A, Falling block single shot rifle. 21 1/2'' round barrel. Marked on barrel just ahead of receiver & on receiver ring with large ''9'' & proof marks on right side of barrel . The straight grain oil finished walnut stocks are good, but both stocks are a bit loose or with wooble. The buttstock that has a horse stamp on left side of stock by buttplate. There us a missing gouges in the stock at the toe & in area of the lowwer swivel There are also numerous scratches, scrapes & contusions, with no visible cracks. Barrel & receiver have a blue to brown finish, with rust spotting & a brown patina. Rear sight is V notched adjustable ladder, with markings on the base from 200 to 500 and markings on the ladder from 6 to 18. Front sight is small pinched blade on tall ramp. Bore is very good. This model contains bayonet lug & sling loop on front barrel band & loop on bottom of buttstock. Smooth metal buttplate. The original manufacturer information, would normally be stamped onto the right side of the action, while the left side would typically have information regarding the conversion. This example has no visible marking on either side. The Martini action & proof markings on barrel are from 1904-1955. Appears to funtion correctly. Unusual varitation.
