Swiss Schmidt-Ruben Model 96/11, CAL: 7.5x55 Swiss, MFG: 1898, SN: 232698, Swiss Made Straight Pull Bolt Action Rifle, 30 3/4'' barrel. The Schmidt-Rubin Model 1896/11 rifle was Switzerland's effort to upgrade the 1896 to use the more powerful cartridges of the Model 1911 & later. The original pistol grip European walnut stock is very good, with multiple small contusions, scratches, nicks & dings. The stock displays multiple Swiss proof marks. The matching SN is present on the receiver, mag, buttplate, barrel & bolt. The metal blue finish on the barrel, trigger guard & receiver rates 70%, with areas toning to a light brown patina. Bore is very good & bright. The barrel holds a tangent leaf adjustable rear sight, with graduation marks from 1 to 20, on top & sides, with a small blade front sight. Stacking rod & bayonet lug & sling swivels all present. Military style steel buttplate. Action appears functional. Also comes with the rare original brass muzzle cover.
