Colt, Model 1860 Army, CAL: 44, MFG: 1862, SN: 45654, Single Action Ball/Percussion Revolver, 8'' barrel. Civil War era pistol. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped: ''ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S'' & ''COLTS PATENT'' is stamped faintly on the left side of the frame. The cylinder is faintly marked ''PATENT No 5654/Pat Sept. 10th 1850''. The one piece walnut grip is excellent, with handling marks & minor edge wear. There are two tiny corner chips at the front bottom of grips. Both grips display cartouches, the left, ''HWW'' for Henry W. Wilcox & the right, ''JT'' for John Taylor, both of which were Colt inspectors & although they were inspectors for different SN ranges, the two ranges do overlap making the mixed cartouches correct. The metal finish is a mix of grey/light brown patina, with areas of spotting. The brass trigger guard has a ''P'' stamp & matching SN.. Bore is good, clean, dark & rough, but with strong rifling. Original sight. All matching SN on the on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard & backstrap. The partial SN is marked on the wedge & cylinder pin. A very good, clean & numbers matching example of an 1860 Army.* Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
