E. Remington & Sons, Model 1875 SAA, CAL: 44 (44-40 or 44 WCF), MFG: 1875-87, SN: 1156, Single Action Revolver, 7 1/2'' barrel. Also known as the ''Improved Army'' or ''Frontier Army'' revolver, this single-action was a competitor to Colt's popular Single Action Army line. While most collectors believe production was larger, internet research indicates between 25,000 & 30,000 were manufactured during the years 1875-1889 in three different chamberings: .44 Remington Centerfire, .44-40, & .45 caliber. The ivory grips are very good, with natural spider-webbing, a few natural tight grain cracks on sides & two more small hairline cracks on the bottom of the grips. The nickel finish is excellent, with light spotting & a couple areas of flaking. Bore is very good & clean, but dark with roughness. Factory rear groove & blade front sight. Action & cylinder appear to function properly. A very nice example in high collectible condition & in the most popular caliber. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 3000 to 5000
