Sharps Pepperbox, CAL: 22, MFG: 1859-68, SN: 13732, Break Action Single Shot, 2 1/2'' barrels, 4 shot. This is a fascinating design that incorporates a rotating firing pin that turned 90 degrees over to the next barrel each time the hammer was cocked. The firing pin rotates on a small cylinder at the face of the hammer. A hand pushes a series of cams on the back of the cylinder to turn the pin; the same way a revolver cylinder is turned by a similar mechanism. The ''Sharps'' markings on both sides are legible, except for the patent dates have worn thin or away. The original wood grips are very good, with minor handling marks & surface scrapes. The finish on the barrels is toning to a mix of grey/brown patina. The brass frame is excellent, with a very nice aged patina. Bores are good, with visible rifling & areas of roughness. Single front bead. A very cool & highly collectible piece. Antique, No FFL Req - Value: 400 to 1000
