CASED, Colt, Model M1911A1 U.S Army, CAL: 45ACP, MFG: 1944, SN: 1867480, Semi-Auto Pistol, 5'' barrel. This example comes from The Civilian Marksmanship Program; As a part of the Defense Authorization Act, the CMP is authorized to sell surplus M1911 & M1911A1 .45 ACP pistols transferred from the U.S. Army reserve stocks at the Anniston Army Depot. These pistols come in a variety of grades in both the M1911 & M1911A1 models. Many of these pistols, especially the M1911A1, were re-arsenaled within last 40 years before being put back into storage. These re-arsenaled pistols were reworked & refinished by the U.S. Ordnance Department before being greased, wrapped & boxed for eventual reissue. These pistols are essentially in like-new condition, & some bear rebuild marks from the re-arsenal process, mostly dating from the late 1970's. Other examples still bear their original finish & wear from decades of use by the U.S. Military. The checkered brown plastic grips are excellent, with minor handling marks, tiny nicks & dings. The parkerized finish rates 95% overall, with multiple small surface scrapes & blemishes. The front part of the slide/frame is slightly darker than the rest of the gun. Bore is excellent. Factory sights. Comes in a tan CMP heavy duty pistol case, with owners manual, Certificate of Authenticity from CMP, a box of (50) Winchester 45 Auto 230 GR & a box of (20) Federal Premium 45 Auto Personal Defense 230 GR & 3 additional non-factory mags. This would be a great shooter or a nice addition to any Colt collection!* FFL or C&R Req - Value: 1500 to 3000
