RARE FN (Fabrique Nationale), Model 1900, Cal. .32 ACP (also known as 7.6517mm Browning SR, ''SR'' denotes semi-rimmed.), Mfg. 1900-14, SN: 679000, All visible #'s matching, Semi-Auto Pistol, 4'' barrel, The 1900 pistol was the invention of John Moses Browning& featured a simple blowback operation. The design was presented to arms manufacturer FN Herstal in 1898, with production commencing the following year (then under the designation Modele 1899). In 1900, an improved design featuring primarily a shorter barrel & wider grips was introduced as the M1900. These designations were applied retroactively after FN began manufacture of other Browning pistol designs; initially the M1900 was marketed as simply the ''Pistolet Browning'' (Browning Pistol). It was the first practical & reliable automatic handgun to be adopted by many armies. President Theodore Roosevelt kept a mother of pearl gripped one in his bedside drawer while President & at home after office. Produced only in the single caliber 32 ACP. This is one of over 724,000 produced. Although many were produced, they were typically well used, & most were destroyed during the European gun round-ups after WWI & II. Therefore, finding one in very good, original condition is difficult. The left side of slide is marked with single-line FN address & proofs, with frame showing FN trademark & Browning's patent marking. Right side marked with SN. The original, early production hard rubber checkered grips, with the silhouette of the pistol, are very good, with minor nicks, chipping & contusions. The original metal blue finish is 85%, with most losses due to holster wear, Bore is good. Original ''FN'' stamped single stack magazine. Lanyard staple. Overall, much better than average survivor & very nice original example. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 800 to 1500
