Description

FANTASTIC Shiloh Sharps Model 1874 Sporting Rifle. CAL: 45 (45-110). SN: 9619. MFG: 1983, Lever Falling Block Single Shot Rifle, 30'' Heavy octagon barrel. This is a custom shop rifle that was completely hand built & has yet to be fired outside the custom shop. The deluxe checkered, cheeked & flat pistol grip American Walnut stocks are excellent, with all its original finish. The grain is wonderful & the stocks have crisp checkering & virtually no handling marks. The forend has an ornate silver cap at the forend tip. The barrel retains 99% of the original blue. The sating silver tone receiver is wonderfully engraved by Jack O. Harwood, who has sign engraved on the bottom of the receiver ahead of the triggers. The right side of the receiver displays a buffalo, while the left side has a standing bear. The balance of the receiver, side plates, tangs & lever have scroll, border & punch dot engraving. The lower tang is nicely checkered. Barrel is stamped on top flat ''SHILOH SHARPS MODEL 1874'' then marked ''CALIBER 45'' & ''2 7/8''. On the bottom flat under forearm are matching SN & caliber. The rear sight is flip-up ladder marked ''Shiloh Sharps'' & with slide adjustment from 2 to 8. Front sight is a silver blade. Adjustable double set triggers. The stock carries an original checkered black plastic buttplate. Bore is minty. This is a fabulous replica of the Sharps manufactured Model 1874 Sporting rifles, of which approximately 6,400 were produced between 1871 & 1880. They were popular with market hunters in the West & were well known for their ability to take down bison at long ranges & also popular with long range target shooters. The double set triggers helped make them incredibly accurate. Sharps were manufactured in some of the most powerful black powder cartridges ever made. This rifle comes with additional extra sight option, including a Shiloh Tang Sight, with slide adjusting disk aperture. As a second option, it also comes with another long range vernier tang sight, with screw height adjusting large disk aperture. In addition, there is also a Spirit Level front windage sight, with a small metal cap box holding interchangeable sight inserts. Currently these three expensive sight upgrades are not mounted & up to the future owner to customize & mount as they choose. Also included is a full set of reloading dies & 40 once fired (but in a different rifle) & unprimed 45 basic cases, ready for forming & reloading. This is a great opportunity to buy a basically New 40 year old rifle, with a lot of extras, making a great package.* FFL or C&R Req - Value: 4000 to 6000
