Winchester Model 1885 High Wall, CAL: 40-70 SHARPS STR, MFG: 1886 (2nd year production), SN: 6698, Lever Action Falling Block Rifle, 30'' Octagon barrel. #3 weight barrel, although not stamped. Caliber stamped on top flat ahead of receiver. The straight grip wood stocks are excellent, as lightly sanded & nicely refinished. The display a few minor scratches & contusions. Ebony inlay in forend tip. The metal blue finish on the barrel appears to be a combination of original & added blue, retaining 85% coverage. The receiver & lever have worn mostly gun metal gray with a thin layer of brown patina in areas. The barrel is stamped under the forend with a ''40-70 S'' & ''23'' in the same area. Bore is very good. The barrel carries an adjustable rear sight & a front blade sight. Buttstock carries a crescent metal buttplate. A very attractive 1885 rifle. FFL or C&R REQ. - Value: 800 to 2500
