Remington, Model Hepburn, No. 3 Sporting/Target Rifle, MARKED .32-30, MFG: 1880-1907, S/N: 9786, Falling Block Single Shot Rifle, 34'' Half octagon - half round barrel. Side-lever actuated. These rifles were designed by marksman & Remington mechanical department superintendent Lewis L. Hepburn. The original checkered & round pistol grip wood stocks are in very good condition, but have darkened with age, use & the addition of oils & waxes. The stocks display minor handling marks, scrapes & contusions. The forend has an inlayed ebony tip. The original metal blue finish has toned to an even brown patina. Rifle barrel stamped with the SN & caliber ''32-30'' under the forearm & another ''32-30'' on barrel in front of forearm. Rifle is mounted with a Lyman tang peep sight, an open rear dovetail & globe front sight missing most of the globe ring. The rifle is stamped with the SN 9786 on the lower tang. The stock carries the original crescent buttplate, which is SN 7460 on the underside. Bore remains good, but rifling is worn, with roughness. The rifle is missing a small part/spring needed to hold the block in place up tight. A good example of a fairly rare sporting falling block rifle.* FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
