CASED, Colt, Lightning Small Frame, CAL: 22, MFG: 1901, SN: 63150, Pump Action Rifle, 24'' Tapered octagon barrel. This rifle comes with a Colt Factory Letter which tells the unique history of the rifle. It was sent in 1901 as part of a 9 gun shipment to Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Mfg Company London Agency, London England. The rifle is stamped with European acceptance stamping & proofs. The original straight grip wood stocks are excellent, with thinning finish & minor handling marks. There are tiny chips in stock at the upper corners of the wrist & the left side of the forearm displays a small repaired edge chip. The stocks may have been lightly sanded & refinished long ago, possibly when forend chip was repaired. The original high polish metal blue finish rates 85% overall, with some blemishes, light scratches & speckling. The barrel & receiver have mounted with European style scope blocks, with a Ajack 1 1/2 x100 fixed power scope. The barrel holds a small blade front sight. Bore is excellent, with light intermittent spotting. Buttstock carries a Colt logo, checkered black plastic buttplate. Rifle comes in a Henry Atkin Gun Makers wood case, with green interior & a brass name plate that reads ''HENRY ATKIN GUN MAKERS 48 TERMYN STREET ST. JAMES'S LONDON SW 1''. The case also holds a solid metal cleaning rod, an empty, Camp Perry style box for holding .22 rounds & a set of 5 1/2'' paper targets, with various game animals on them. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
