U.S. Springfield. Model 1898. CAL: 30-40 Krag, MFG: 1902, SN: 409531, Custom built bolt action rifle, 21 3/4'' barrel, The new cheeked & flat pistol grip Monte Carlo stock is excellent, but with several finish level dings & scrapes. The pistol grip has a hole filled that may have once held a cap. The metal has been refinished, rating to about 90% overall, with the receiver toning plum. Left side of receiver is marked, ''U.S.'', '' MODEL 1898. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY'' & the SN, Left side of barrel marked, ''30-40''. Bore is excellent & bright with sharp rifling. The barrel carries a ramped Lyman front sight with brass bead, & a market Williams slide adjusting rear sight. Buttstock carries an Upland Game ventilated recoil pad. Sling swivels carry an adjustable leather sling. A nice shooter or hunting rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 500
