Winchester, Model 47, CAL: 22 S.L.LR, MFG: 1948-54, SN: NONE, Bolt Action Rifle, 25'' barrel. The original flat pistol grip wood stock is excellent, as professionally refinished. The metal blue finish rates 97% overall, with multiple tiny blemishes on the barrel. Bore is excellent & bright. There is a dark ring at the tip of the muzzle in the bore. The barrel holds an elevation adjustable rear & blade front sights. Buttstock carries a Winchester checkered black plastic buttplate. The Model 47 had a few unique features. The first & most notable is the use of an automatic safety, similar to that of the Stevens Model 73. When the bolt is retracted for loading, the safety is automatically engaged, as is the cocking mechanism. The model 47 is also the only pre-1964 Winchester bolt action .22 to feature a red ''fire ready'' indicator. Another interesting fact; the leadership of Winchester gave authorization for its development on Wednesday May 31st, 1944, one week before D Day. An excellent condition shooter with a neat history.
