U.S Springfield, Custom Rifle, CAL: .45 (Likely, but unmarked), MFG: N/A, SN: N/A, Muzzleloading Rifle, 32'' barrel. The straight grip wood stock is very good, displaying contusions, scrapes, nicks & dings. The stock appears to carry the original finish with some added waxes. There is a small cartouche ''SM 1893'' on the left side. The stock & side lock appear to be from a Springfield Model 1888 trapdoor. The rifle was then converted into a black powder muzzleloader utilizing an updated barrel marked ''Numrich Arms, Hopkins & Allen''. The blue on the barrel rates 90%. Bore is excellent, with bold rifling. The upper tang holds a fully adjustable peep sight & the barrel holds a folding leaf rear sight & large hooded front sight. Buttstock carries a smooth metal carbine style buttplate. Sling loop in front of the trigger guard & dual loops on the front barrel band. An unusual, but nicely built rifle.
