Allen & Wheelock, First Model ''Side Hammer'', CAL: 32 Lipfire, MFG: 1859-1862, SN: 413, Single Action Lipfire Revolver, 6'' barrel. Three variations of the Allen & Wheelock/Ethan Allen & Co .32 Side hammer revolvers were manufactured. It is estimated that a little more than a thousand were made. The left side of the barrel has the two-line Allen & Wheelock address & Allen's patent marking on the left side of the barrel, followed by ''JULY 3. 1850''. The walnut grips are good, they display surface scrapes & handling marks. The right grip has a 1 1/2'' repaired crack. The metal finish has toned mostly gun metal grey, with spotty brown patina. The metal surfaces also have scratches, pitting/spotting & dings. Bore is fair, with pitting & spotting. Pinched brass front & groove rear sight. Action & cylinder timing appear to function properly. This revolver has a unique rack & pinion ejector that is mounted on the left side of the frame. The loading gate flips down towards the grips. It would have allowed a right-handed shooter to maintain their grip while ejecting & reloading. These are scarce revolvers with very few being produced. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 200 to 600
