Manhattan Firearms Mfg. Co, First Model Second Variation, CAL: 22 S, MFG: 1860-61, SN: 3089, Single Action Revolver, 3 1/8'' barrel. During their existence, Manhattan Firearms produced approximately 175,000 pistols. Only Colt, Remington, & Winchester produced more guns during this era in which included the Civil War. The top of the barrel is marked ''MANHATTAN FIREARMS MANUFG CO N.Y.''. The SN is stamped on the inside of the barrel housing, on the rear cylinder face & on the frame, inside the left grip. The barrel exhibits simple floral scroll engraving. The two-piece wood grips are very good, with a couple dings, handling marks & a tiny edge chip. The nickel finish rates 70% overall, with spotting & oxidization, with areas of loss toning to a brown patina. Bore is good, with spotting & small areas of pitting. The barrel holds a small crescent blade front sight & the frame has what appears to be a floating rear sight. In total, about 17,000 of this model pistol were produced & appx 1,600 of this specific variation. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 200 to 800
