Remington-Beals Patent, First Model, CAL: 31, MFG: 1857-58, SN: 234, Single Action Revolver, 3'' barrel. The top the barrel is stamped, ''F. Beal's Patent, June 24, '56 & May 26, '57'' & the top of the frame is marked with two line ''Remington's Ilion, N.Y.''. The Gutta-Percha grips are excellent, with light handling marks. The metal finish has toned to a mix of metal grey & spotty brown patina, with light pitting. Bore is fair, dark & roughess. The barrel holds a crescent blade front sight & the frame has a ''V'' notch rear sight. The cylinder doesn't rotate when the hammer is cocked, hammer is tough to cock, it appears there is a timing issue with the ''pawl'' that rotates the cylinder. A very early first Remington production with appx 5000 produced. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 200 to 1000
