Savage Model 1899, CAL: 303 SAV, MFG: 1905, SN: 47211, Lever Action Rifle, 26'' Round tapered barrel. The straight grip wood stocks are good & solid, despite having two 2'' cracks that emanate from the upper tang & run towards the comb. There are two small chips also missing from the wood at the upper tang, as well as two missing at each bottom corner of the wrist where the stock meets the receiver. The stock has a large stabilizing pin on the left side of wrist which has firmly stabilized the stock. The stocks carry worn original finish, with scratches, contusions & some chipping at the toe. Stock also have open holes from where sling swivels have been removed. The metal blue finish on the barrel retains 40% coverage of spotty gray/brown patina. The receiver has worn mostly to a gun metal gray, with areas having a thin brown patina. Bore is good, with roughness & strong rifling. The barrel holds aa adjustable rear sight & long blade front sight. Crescent metal buttplate. Smooth tight action. A good old vintage hunting rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
