Stanley Higham, English Peabody Stalking Rifle, CAL: 380 Rook, MFG: Cir 1880's, SN: N/A, Lever Breech Loading Rifle, 26 3/4'' Round barrel. The original checkered straight grip wood stocks are excellent, as nicely refinished. The stocks displays fantastic swirl & rippled grain, with a couple of grain pops. There is a small missing sliver of wood off on the left upper edge of the forend, a few small chips or nicks to the forend cap & very few other handling scuffs. The metal finish on the barrel has 50% coverage of blue toned gray, a thin brown patina in areas of wear. There is some speckling & areas of pitting on the barrel. The receiver retains 60% coverage of finish toning to a thin brown patina. The receiver, lever & trigger guard all have ornamental & border hand engraving. Top of barrel is engraved ''Stanley Higham, Warrington''. Right side of the receiver stamped ''A. Francotte 1878 Patent''. Bore is very good, with areas of speckled pitting. The matted barrel top holds a folding leaf rear sight & small blade front sight. Buttstock carries a metal buttplate. A beautiful little European rifle. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 2000 to 3000
