RARE Charles Daly (Prussia), Diamond Grade, CAL: 12GA, MFG: 1920's, SN: 11572, Break Action SxS Shotgun, 28'' RARE ''ROECHLINGS SPECIAL STEEL'' Fluid Steel, rather than the common damascus barrels. The matted rib is stamped ''CHARLES DALY DIAMOND GRADE'', & both sides of the receiver are engraved ''CHARLES DALY''. The highly figured European walnut stocks have very fine checkering, a round knob pistol grip, with horn inlays on the knob & forend tip. The stocks & finish are excellent, displaying fantastic rippled grain & very few minor handling marks. The professionally restored metal blue finish on the barrel rates 99%. The case-hardened receiver retains muted case-colors, with the rest toning to metal gray. Aesthetically, the engraving is nothing short of magnificent, with profuse scroll coverage, full borders, engraved fences, engraved top & bottom tang, engraved top lever, a pointer on the bottom of the frame & four grouse on the trigger guard. The ''Shadow'' engraving would cost ten's of thousands to replicate today. The action has a scalloped back, clipped fences, & raised, beaded panels. Single trigger & automatic safety. Bores are excellent, displaying light honest use. Automatic ejectors & cocking indicators. The solid, matted rib holds a single front ivory bead. Buttstock carries a solid leather wrapped recoil pad. Blank silver inscription medallion in belly of stock. Matching SN stamped on lower tang, water table, barrels & forend. Prussian made Daly shotguns were known for their fabulous engraving & this gun is a perfect example. Every part of the shotgun expresses quality. Overall, a superb, very high quality & high condition shotgun. Very few of these guns were made with the fluid steel barrels making this a rare collectible. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 5000 to 10000
