U.S. Springfield. Model:1884. Cal:45-70. MFG: 1892. S/N:556113. Trapdoor single shot. 32 1/2'' round barrel. The straight wrist wooden stock is very good with normal dings/scratches & wear from age & use, The top of comb is stamped ''F'', ''16'', The right side of stock is stamped, ''22'', ''359'', a cartouche on left side of stock above trigger ''SWP 1892'' in box, cartouche behind lower tang, ''P'' in circle. Metal parts retains some original finish with lots of rust/pitting. Rear of receiver is marked with S/N, top of trapdoor is marked, ''U.S. MODEL 1884'', Lock plate is marked with eagle, ''U.S. Springfield'', left side of barrel is marked with ''V'' over ''P'' over Eagle, ''P'', both barrel bands marked with ''U''. Bore: is very good, with light wear & rust spotting. Bade front sight, no rear sight.. Military style trapdoor buttplate stamped ''U.S.'' on top, with heavy rust & pitting. Rare slide away bayonet. Leather sling. Action is tight & appears to function correctly. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 600 to 1400
