U.S. Springfield. Model:1884. Cal:45-70. MFG: 1891. S/N:527505. Trapdoor single shot. 32 1/2'' round barrel. The straight wrist wooden stock is very good with normal dings/scratches & wear from age & use, cartouche on left side of stock above trigger, ''SWP 1891'' in box, cartouche behind lower tang, ''P'' in circle. Barrel & receiver worn to a gray/brown patina & cleaned pitting, Trigger, trigger guard, sling swivels, hammer, lock plate & buttplate have rust/brown patina & pitting, Rear of receiver is marked with S/N, top of trapdoor is marked, ''U.S. MODEL 1884'', Lock plate is marked with eagle, ''U.S. Springfield'', left side of barrel is marked with ''V'' over ''P'', both barrel bands marked with ''U''. Bore is very good with light wear. Hooded blade front sight, Windage & elevation adjustable U notch ladder rear sight, marked 2 to 14 on right side & 15 to 20 on left side. Military style trapdoor buttplate marked ''U.S.'' on top, with heavy rust & pitting. Sliding tuck-away bayonet, Sling loop & stacking loop. Action is tight & appears to function correctly.
