Colt, Viper, CAL: 38SPL, MFG: 1977, SN: 60808R, Double Action Revolver, 4'' barrel. The Colt Viper was a variation of the Colt Cobra produced with a 4'' barrel & in .38 Special caliber. This is a first year production example. These have become very popular amongst ''Snake'' gun collectors, those that collect the Colt models named after snakes. The checkered wood grips are excellent, with very minor contusions & dings. The original high polish metal blue finish rates 99% overall, with a slight change in tone between the frame & the cylinder/barrel & displaying thin brush lines. Bore is excellent. The barrel holds a ramped blade front sight & the frame has an integrated rear groove. Due to its low production, it is one of the more rare Colt revolvers. Colt's ''snake'' guns have become very popular amongst collectors & these Viper revolvers are likely the most difficult for most collectors to acquire. This one is in excellent original overall condition & is especially collectible as a first year gun.* FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 8000
