Winchester, Model 1876, 2nd Variation, CAL: 45-75, MFG: 1880, SN: 13206, Lever Action Rifle, 28'' Octagon barrel, Full mag. The original straight grip wood stock & forend are good. The stock has been sanded, with added oils. The wood displays a toe chip, along with contusions, scrapes & dings. The forend has a full length grain crack on the belly & also has a front corner missing chip on left side, along with numerous small contusions & dings. The has toned to a mostly even brown patina, with areas worn to a gun metal gray. Bore is fair, dark & rough. Mag tube has several small dents or contusions. Dust cover is a modern Italian made replacement, which has been nicely aged to match rifle finish. Dust cover must be manually retracted before levering rifle to allow for it to lever, cycle & fire. The barrel holds a replaced adjustable rear sight & pinched silver blade front sight. Stock carries a trap door, crescent metal buttplate. Forend cap screws & a few additional screws appear to be replacements, with most screws having buggered slots. Rifle would benefit from some additional gunsmith adjustments to improve functionality.
