Winchester, Model 1876, 2nd Variation, CAL: 45-75, MFG: 1881, SN: 15036, Lever Action Rifle, 28'' Octagon barrel. The original straight grip wood stock & forend are very good & solid, appearing to carry the original finish. The wood displays several contusions, scratches, scrapes & dings, with some tiny edge chipping. The metal finish on the barrel & tube has fully worn away or been polished down to the metal gray, The original receiver finish has worn to a mostly gun metal gray, with a thin layer of brown patina & remnants of original blue in protected areas. Bore is fair & dark, with areas of pitting & roughness throughout. The barrel holds a flip-up rear ladder sight, with graduations from 1 to 10 & a pinched silver blade front sight. Buttstock carries a trapdoor crescent metal buttplate. Brass block has numerous small contusions. Dust cover has to be manually retracted in order to lever & the hammer does not stay at full cock after levering & must be manually cocked to full position in order to fire. Rifle would benefit from some additional gunsmith adjustments to improve functionality. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 3500
