Winchester, Model 1885 High Wall Rifle, .40-82 WCF Cal., MFG: 1888, SN: 27424, Lever Single Shot Rifle, 30'' Full octagon #3 marked barrel, The wood stocks are very good, solid & original, with several small handling marks, scratches or contusions. The original finish is very good, with some thinning & staining. The forearm carries the ebony inlay at tip. There is a 1'' tight hairline crack at the top of the wrist emanating from the upper tang. The original metal blue finish on barrel has fully toned to an even brown patina, with wear to the edges. The case-hardened receiver lever, block & hammer are mostly gun metal gray, with spotty brown patina Bore is good, but with spots of pitting amongst strong rifling. The barrel carries an adjustable rear & a Rocky Mountain blade front sights. Metal crescent buttplate. The barrel is stamped with a ''3'' forward of the forearm. Comes with a Cody Winchester Factory look-up sheet which confirms dates & configuration. This is a wonderful original condition high wall rifle, in the rarer 40-82 caliber.
